Getting Started: Research

Research

As you begin preparing for your Assessments you will need to think about research: your systematic process for collecting information about your topic and then collating the evidence and your ideas that lead to your answer.

To do this you need to:

  • Know what the Assessment Task is
  • Understand what the Question/Task is asking of you
  • Be able to find appropriate resources (this is covered in Tutorial 4)
  • Read the sources effectively
  • Critically analyse the sources (this is covered in Tutorial 5)
  • Take notes from those resources

Activity: Reflect on Research Skills

Reflect on which of these points you think you will do well and which will be difficult for you. Can you explain your choices?

  • Know what the Assessment Task is
  • Understand what the Question/Task is asking of you
  • Read the sources effectively
  • Take notes from those resource
