If you are studying in Bible and Theology then you will have to learn how to insert and add footnotes so that you can correctly cite/reference quotations, paraphrases or summaries. Sometimes footnotes are also used to add additional text that isn't included in the body of your essay.
Below are two videos that show you how to insert a footnote in a WORD document.
Adding a Footnote in Microsoft Word - this should be similar in all newer versions of Word.
There is some information about Endnotes as well which we don't use but it is good to know about them since you might see them during your research.
