There are different ways to think about the process of Critical Thinking and the development of these skills. Different cultures have placed importance on various aspects of critical thinking, and much of Australian Higher Education is still closely connected with western philosophical frameworks of criticism, analysis and individual creative thought.
The following ways to structure your Critical thinking offer a variety of ways to look at what you read and research.
Critical Thinking & Bloom's Taxonomy
Benjamin Bloom was an American educational psychologist who worked with a team to classify a process of learning and thinking. His 'taxonomy' was first published in the 1950s and was updated in 2001.
The top three intellectual behaviours: Analysis, evaluation, and creating; are considered higher levels of thinking and help us to demonstrate our critical thinking.
